My name is Charles Schug. My great-grandfather was Charles Schug (b. 1825). Put Karl from Baumholder in the United States prior to 1849. His family along with other Baumholder families (Rausch, Grimm, Wolf and Lamneck) first settled in Port Washington, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Karl associated Catherina noise and had some children, before he moved to Veracruz, Adams County Indiana.

I hope, anzuschließ on the agreement by Johann Schug (b. 1789) and Louise geb. Kirsch Schug (b.1794), parents of Charles Schug, letter infrom us that Johann Wilhelm Schug (b. 1811) also was the eldest son of John and Louise remained in Baumholder and lived in the Schug family house which was one of only two houses that survived the Baumholder fire of 1888.

I have enclosed a "Schug family" chart with the hope that it sparks interest, to share our family history with each other. Any assistance you can provide, would be appreciated.

Better Respect,
Charles Schug

First contact with Baumholder
Ursula Ludmann emailed a genealogy chart today.  There was no note attached.  From what I understand Ursula is the GG Grand daughter of Wilhelm Schug (b.1811).  Wilhelm is the eldest son of John & Louisa Kirsh Schug who stayed in Baumholder.  A short outline:
 John Schug (b.1789)
            Wilhelm Schug (b.1811)
                        Jakob Schug (b.1852)
                                    Otto Schug  (b.1891)
                                                Herta Schug (b.1924) m. // Ludmann
Ursula Ludmann (b. 22 July 1952)

Schug’s Baumholder Bulletin

Baumholder week 1  April 1, 2007                                                                       Vol. 1 No.I
Cousins,
What an interesting weekend.
To summarize:
  •  Ursula Ludmann emailed genealogy chart of her mothers. She did not see a family connection.  I did.  She needed to go back on more generation. (sent her a chart)  Ursula referred me to a Horst Conrad who studies the old Families of Baumholder and gave me his address.
  •  Lothar Kunz then emailed.  He is married to Jutta Schug daughter of Helmut Schug who died in 1992. (So far all the people I had address on are dead.)  Luther  mailed me 8 pages of Horst Conrad & Fritz Licht book "Hauserund Familien-Chronik der Altstadt von Baumholder" all in German.
In translating the first page:  Describes a house that belongs to Johann Neumann (1721-1789) he is a baker.  Johann marries Maria Magdalena Conrad (1724-1783).  Their daughter Katharina Neumann (1756-1776) marries Johann Peter Schug.(1746- ).  She dies early and John Peter Schug marries his sister in law Anna Juliana Neuman (1750).
John Peter Schug inherits the house.  After John Peter dies his eldest son from his first wife Katharina inherits the home John Schug (1774-1834) I assume this is John Schug who marries Katharina Louisa Kirsch(1794-1888) John Wilhelm Schug (1811-1893) Occupation Wagon Maker (Wagoner)  married Juliana Zimmer (1822-1896).

It is this house Katharina Louisa Kirsh Schug and the rest of her children left for Ohio.  The house that survived the 1880 Baumholder fire.
I am trying to order the book and found a Book Store in Baumholder  owned by Elelgard Grimm.  Another one of our family names.  Their email address is:
BuchhandlungEdelgardGrimm@t-online.de   I will find out how much the book cost.  Any orders?
Still have more translation to do, and I have a business to run.  So I’ll get back to all of you next week with anther summary.
Yours,
I wish I had more time            Chuck
The Book was sold out and out of print. I was however sent one from Luthar Kuntz through Fritz Sprunger.
